Medeski Martin & Wood closed the second set with "Old Wyne‚" a song with a great Schroeder-from-the-Peanuts piano groove. They finished the song by stepping out to the edge of the stage for a little over four minutes with Medeski on melodica‚ Wood on stand-up bass and Martin on his plastic clothes hangers sans P.A.
They sent us off with a swinging little jazz-blues number that was the perfect nightcap. The best quote of the night goes to one Amy F. Fischer and I think it sums it up perfectly: "Take Mr. Rogers' Land of Make Believe and put it through Willy Wonka's boat ride."
